Camplife Customs is a full-custom van conversion shop in San Diego's Point Loma neighborhood, founded in 2018. They build primarily on the Mercedes Sprinter (144, 170, and 170 Extended) and Ford Transit (148 and 148 Extended), with other platforms considered on a case-by-case basis. Every build is bespoke — no pre-set packages or tiered build levels. Their primary differentiator is steel framework fabrication. Rather than wood or aluminum framing, Camplife custom-welds steel structures for all interior cabinetry and components, a construction method they describe as uncommon among US van builders. Builds are designed and fabricated entirely in-house at their 5,000-square-foot facility. The shop also operates a separate commercial division building mobile offices, command centers, and first responder vehicles, with the Department of Justice listed among their commercial clients. Conversion pricing ranges from $75,000 to over $200,000 depending on scope, with their signature Apres configuration starting at $235,000 for the 144-wheelbase and $265,000 for the 170. Build timelines run three to six months for full conversions. Camplife limits the number of builds they accept per year and backs completed work with a five-year limited warranty.
